Fantastic James Bond actor Sir Roger Moore passed away today. Rest in peace.
Roger Moore and Sean Connery are my favorite James Bond actors. Hard to say who is better! Like Sean Connery a little more because admired his acting in non-Bond films also.
Crocodile stunt - My all time favorite Bond movie scene from 'Live and Let Die' movie.
The famous 'crocodile jump' scene was shot on a crocodile farm in Jamaica using REAL crocodiles. And for your information crocodiles which lack limbic nervous system (responsible for emotions) can't be tamed or trained like other animals. They do everything solely by instinct and reflexes. Of course, Roger Moore did not really enact those scenes. A stunt master named Ross Kananga did those stunts. You can see all the takes of the scenes in the YouTube clip below. Only way I can think they were able to pull off that stunt was by feeding those crocodiles so so well and so so much that they were not at all interested in any food/prey. They were merely curious what all that fuss and nuisance was when all they probably wanted to do was to lazily bask in sun! :)
Somehow reminds me of what Lord Sri Krishna says in Bhagvadgita, "Among water creatures, I am the crocodile!" (Ch.10, Verse. 31). Unless you have some divine blessings and/or crocodiles donning Krishna's peaceful avatar, forget about even going near crocodiles let alone pulling off stunts like this. :)
RIP Mr. Bond, James Bond!
How the stunt was done.
What others had to say about filming the stunt?
